After doing update on Apple Watch , I cannot get it out of the privacy mode. What do I do?

Apple Watch not on new phone My Apple Watch is listed in devices in my iCloud and settings but is not showing up in my watch app. It is also not updating in my fitness app. I didn’t know it wasn’t automatic when I upgraded my phone 6 months ago. There is no such thing as "privacy mode".
