iPad 6th Gen, with Sidecar app dispayed, does not respond to touch or apple pencil (1st gen). I am using a Macbook Pro 2021 with M1 chip. I have turned the handoff off/on, have rebooted but to no avail. Can only control the iPad using Mac touch pad

How can I make my iPad (6th gen) work with apps when in "sidecar" mode. Only the sidebar icons respond to touch or apple pencil. The content/app within the side car app window does not respond to touch or apple pencil. It only responds to the MacBook Pro (2021 M1 version) keyboard or touch pad.

I have restarted the Mac, switched handoff off/on but nothing works. I even temporarily switched off the firewall "all incoming connections".

Any help would be appreciated.

After a lot of trial and error I finally got my iPad to work with Sidecar - yeah!

I think switching the firewall checkbox for “Block all incoming connections” to Off, fixed the problem. When I initially tried this, it had no effect, but after trying it again and again, it appears to have fixed the problem.

There may be some other reason why my iPad is now working, but for those experiencing a similar issue I believe the firewall is probably a good place to start.
