Haptic tick every second while charging.

Whenever I charge my apple watch series 6 (M02D3NF/A) with WatchOS 9.3.1, the haptic motor ticks every second. Like it’s a mechanical bed side clock. It is very subtle, but still I would like to switch it off (the haptic tick). I cannot find how to do that.

I charge on a Belkin charger stand. The clock face changes to a green digital version while charging. the display switches off altogether after about 30 seconds. then to ticking starts.

As soon as I pick up the watch from the charger, the ticking stops.

I’ve looked all over the settings, but can’t find the correct one.

TIA,

Leo

Hello LBink,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Let's verify your charge is set up according to these steps for proper charging:

"Set up the charger

  1. In a well-ventilated area, place your charger or charging cable on a flat surface.
  2. Your Apple Watch comes with the Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable (Apple Watch Series 7 and Apple Watch Series 8 only) or the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable (other models). You can also use a MagSafe Duo Charger or Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock (sold separately).
  3. Plug the charging cable into the power adapter (sold separately).
  4. Plug the adapter into a power outlet.

Note: Fast charging is not available in all regions."

More details can be found here: Charge Apple Watch

If the issue persist, can you provide a few more details? Does the issue persist if you use an Apple Charger? Do you have another charger to test with? Also, when did you first notice this?

Cheers!

LBink,

Thanks for the additional information regarding your Apple Watch charging issue.

The next step is to make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are running the latest OS versions. This simple step can resolve issues like this:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Also, does this issue occur with the charger that came with your Apple Watch? This will let us know if the issue is with the Apple Watch or charger.

Take Care!

Hi, thanks for tking the time to review this issue.

This post is not about the watch charging incorrectly. It is about it giving haptic feedback every second while charging (like the secondhand of a wall clock).

I use a Belkin Boost Charge 3-in-1 charging stand (HPGA2Z), bought at an Apple Store (The Hague, NL).

The area is well ventilated, I keep the room at 15 degrees C (59F) and, by nature, the phone “hangs free” on the charger.

Naturally things are plugged in correctly.
