I would keep it closed. It really depends upon the process being used to make sure it is eligible. Some countries may require proof that it was actually imported to other country and you didn't swap out the iPhone with somebody just going back into the first country.

You're going to have to pay the taxes on it in Turkey.

Based on the postings here, taking a cellular device into Turkey is a royal pain. You would probably be better off to return the one you bought and just buy one in Turkey.

Just out of curiosity: what country did you get a "tax free" receipt from an Apple store in?

Interesting - thanks. Must be due to it being in the EU since Apple generally does not allow the goods to be exported.

And what country are you taking it to?

Odds are you're going to have to pay the taxes on it in the country you're taking it to if you want the taxes paid in the country of origin back...

“Tax Free” … really just means “Taxed Somewhere Else”

You’re still responsible for paying tax in that “somewhere else.”
