I left my phone to charge and one I got it the screen was black and it wouldn’t turn on even when I flipped the silence switch it wouldn’t vibrate or when I plugged in the charger it wouldn’t turn on or vibrate. Why did this happen? Please help.

There are several reasons why that may have happened, however:

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

• Press and quickly release Volume UP button
• Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
• Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF). 

(2)  If the above does not work then - Follow the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ If your iPhone is Non-Responsive or Frozen and see if that helps.

There are several reasons why that has happened. It is very difficult to pinpoint the exact reason. It could be anywhere from a conflict between two processes to a rogue app that crashed some background process(es). Continue to monitor the performance of your iPhone and if the issue persists then post here again.
