How to change Image Capture default options?

Is there any way to change the default options for Image Capture? Every time it opens it wants to save my scans as tiffs, wants to detect separate items, and wants to scan to Photos, none of which are my preferred options.

This is particularly annoying because, having recently upgraded to Snow Leopard, my HP Photosmart Premium all-in-one printer/scanner stopped being able to scan until I followed HP's advice, uninstalled their software, and reinstalled the drivers via Apple. Now the scanner works again but I no longer have HP's pretty nice scanning software, I'm stuck using Image Capture, which seems very weak by comparison.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance,
Abe Z.

hi Amz1,

I can't speak for your scanner. But when I went to the HP website, and selected to download drivers & software, selected my scanner, And then chose 10.6, hp offered a new package. the package was "HP Scanjet Full Feature Software for Mac OS X v10.6". unlike the 10.5 software witch is "HP Scanjet Full Feature Software and Drivers for Mac OS X"

the 10.6 software application has worked fine for me. But if you want to be safe, I guess you could call HP and see what they say.
