older iomega ext. hd and os Monterey 10.6.3 compatibility

Have an older iomega 2tb external hard drive with older files would like to access. My computer is a 2014 Mac mini running Monterey 10.6.3. My question is will my iomega ego Mac edition operate with my current set up? The date on the iomega box is 08-08-11 so it is pretty old but had no issues when last used. I also recently bought the Benq sw240 monitor but not sure if that matters. Would like to be able to retrieve these art files if possible but do not want to create any issues with software or computer. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depends the primary technology on that drive:

USB 1.1 drives which were commonplace back then were notoriously slow.

Firewire can be adapted to Thunderbolt 2, which can be adapted to Thunderbolt 3, but that sometimes has disconnects.

Thunderbolt 2 was just coming around and can be adapted to Thunderbolt 3.

Applications on that old drive will not work on Monterey, because most were 32 bit back then. That compatibility changed with the release of Catalina:

Monterey is Mac 12.6.3, not 10.6.3.

The documents should be readable if the drive is healthy. Drives older than 7 years have begun to deteriorate on their platters.

Keep in mind anything that was still running on Appleworks will have to be converted to EazyDraw and LibreOffice.

Databases are really hard to convert from Appleworks.
