Hello VictorlT1,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
We understand the photo quality isn’t what you expected. We are happy to help.
Please try the steps here to set up and take photos: Use iPhone camera tools to set up your shot - Apple Support
"Adjust the camera’s focus and exposure
Before you take a photo, the iPhone camera automatically sets the focus and exposure, and face detection balances the exposure across many faces. If you want to manually adjust the focus and exposure, do the following:
On iPhone 11 and later, you can precisely set and lock the exposure for upcoming shots. Tap
, tap
, then move the slider to adjust the exposure. The exposure locks until the next time you open Camera. To save the exposure control so it’s not reset when you open Camera, go to Settings
> Camera > Preserve Settings, then turn on Exposure Adjustment."
Let us know if you have further questions.
Take care.
Hey there VictorlT1,
If you take a photo and it doesn’t look like you expect, look into editing it later on. You can change the key photo from a Live Photo which can make a difference and there are a lot of tools that can help. You can read more about the options here:
Take and edit photos on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
We hope this helps.
Take care.
Thank you for responding and for the helpful suggestions. They do help sometimes. Wish the new phone would just take better pictures without the time consuming steps that make me miss shots. Pretty disappointed with this iteration of iPhone. — unhappy iPhone 14 Pro Max owner…
