Junk mail

What happened is spammers found another way to fool email servers into accepting junk mail. Spam management is not a wall that you build once that keeps everything out forever; it is a constant arms race. Mail managers will eventually find a way to block the latest exploit, which will work until the next round.

And note that your phone (or a computer) cannot really block spam; that has to happen at the mail server level.
