Updated to iOS 16.3.1 - Phone Won't Connect to Cellular Data

Hey everybody,


Hoping I can get a hand with this. I updated my phone (iPhone 13 Pro Max) to iOS 16.3.1 today and now I cannot connect to cellular data. I have tried network reset, I have rebooted, I've toggled data on/off as well as airplane mode. Nothing works.


I've also called my carrier (Virgin Mobile in Toronto) and they have stated there is nothing on their end that should be causing this problem. They have escalated on their end but suggested that I reach out to the forums here / potentially go into the Apple store. Some quick notes:


-I last used mobile data around 12:30am last night.

-I cannot definitively say this issue happened after updating iOS. Being at home, I was connected to my home network. I noticed about 5 steps out my door that I had no connection as I went to check the streetcar times.

-While going through the usual troubleshooting notes with tech support at Virgin, they commented that I should have 5G, LTE and 3G options in my "Cellular Data Options" but I only see LTE and 3G. So, I appear to be missing options / not getting the best from my phone, here.

-My iPhone will either show me as connected to no mobile data networks or show 3G. In either case, any app I open will say I have no internet connection and won't work.


Anybody else experiencing this issue? Very frustrating.

I updated the new iOS to my iPhone 8 Thursday night- Friday morning no cellular- i have a “cellular error” I took it to T-Mobile and got a new SIM card that did not fix it. I took it to the Apple Store and they ran a diagnostic and told me that the cellular component is broken and I have to buy a new phone. There’s no way to fix it. Obviously, the iOS update broke the cellular somehow. I guess that’s how they get you to buy a new phone.

Afraid not. It seems to be some sort of intermittent issue as a few days later it randomly connected to the network again then lost the connection when I rebooted the phone. I took it into the Apple Store and it was connecting to the network so they wouldn't do anything.


I walked into the Samsung Store and bought a Galaxy S23 Ultra. Problem solved (for me). The best I can reco is keep up to date on your updates / rush the store when it's not connecting to the network and demand someone look at it.

My 12 Mac Pro is useless after updating to iOS 16.3.1

wont connect to the internet and none of my apps open~ If I try to open any apps, I get an error message saying I’m not connected to the internet~

I’ve tried volume up/down/reboot… tried turning cellular off and on… nothing works~

also seems like the phone is stuck on SOS and I can’t get rid of that no water what I do~

the recent update, (as so many), has broken my phone again. My BUSINESS PHONE~ if I was just suing my phone for games I’d be annoyed but, i

use my phone for work and I haven’t been able to connect to the Internet ever since I updated to iOS 16.3.1.
