I'm not sure to what extent this is a support question, but I agree. My phone is always filled with screenshots, pictures, and memes lol.

I would recommend finding a way to backup your photos, whether it's a cloud solution or a local one. (iCloud, Google Photos or Drive, OneDrive, Proton Drive, etc etc) and then backing up your photos and deleting them from your device once you're sure they're backed up. This should free up a fair bit of storage if you're anything like me.

Another thing you could do is enabling "Offload Unused Apps"

  1. Open Settings
  2. Scroll down to "App Store"
  3. Scroll down and enable "Offload Unused Apps"

If you find that there's just something stubborn eating away your data, you could go with a more destructive option. (I do this maybe once a year or two)

  1. Do a full backup of your phone with iTunes.
  2. Make more backups. Photos etc with options I mentioned above.
  3. Open iTunes on your PC and plug in your iPhone.
  4. In the top of the iTunes interface, there is a phone icon if it detects your iPhone plugged in.
  5. Click "restore". This will do a full factory reset of your phone. If you don't backup important data, it will be lost. However this is sure to clean out any "gunk" in your storage.
