How to activate a new Ipad 5

I have my iPad 5 replaced by Apple by a new device. None of the recommended ways to activate it does function.

Activate through WLAN: After some minutes, I receive the message that the activation server cannot be accessed. But the server is OK.

Activate with the help of another iPad: After some time the same kind of failure. By new iPad tells the activation is finished, but this is not true.

Activate through Finder: iPad recognized immediately, my Mac tries its best. It end with the message: Activation failed. The iPad "ipAd" cannot be synced. The operation timed out.

Activate through software: When I connected the iPad the first time with the Mac, I was informed that new software is needed. It was automatically downloaded and installed. It contain 3 pieces, all apps, MobileDeviceUpdater.app, AppleMobileSync.app and AppleMobileDeviceHelper.app. None of them can be lauched. Only AppleMobileSync.app seems to be active, both others are grayed out and do not change anything.

I would like to delete all and download a new version. But it seem impossible to delete or uninstall them.

Please help

Hey there Yarramalong,

Follow these steps if you’re unable to activate your iPad:

"1 Restart your iPhone or iPad.

  1. If you're using a cellular-data connection, connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network instead.
  2. If you get an error message on your iPhone or iPad that says the activation server is temporarily unavailable or cannot be reached when trying to activate, wait a few minutes, then repeat the previous steps.

If you still can't activate your iPhone or iPad, try again using your computer instead:

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of macOS or the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Check that your computer has an internet connection.
  3. With the cable that came with your iPhone or iPad, connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer. Locate your device on your computer.
  4. Wait while your computer detects and activates your iPhone or iPad:

  • If an alert appears that says "Set up as New" or "Restore from Backup," it means your iPhone or iPad is activated.
  • If you get an error message on your computer that says that the SIM card isn't compatible or is invalid, contact your carrier.
  • If you get an error message that says the "activation information was invalid" or "activation information could not be obtained from the device," use recovery mode to restore your iPhone or iPad.

If you still can't activate your iPhone or iPad, contact Apple Support.”
