What's wrong with Apple and Google? Google asks to contact the developer, yes Apple...

It's so frustrating...

SOLUTION

In google, goto "Manage your Google account"...

On the left menu, select "security"...

Scroll to "2-Step Verification" (Mine was on already)...

Scroll to the very bottom of the "2-Step verification" page and select "App passwords"...

Select app menu, select "Mail" in the "Select Device menu, select "Mac"...

Click the "Generate" button and copy the password in the yellow box...

Open the mail app...

Archive your mail for the account you are fixing (if you need to, most people wont)...

Open system preferences from the Apple Menu...

Select "Internet Accounts"...

Delete the broken Gmail account here by clicking on it and hitting the - at the bottom of the window and close that window...

Go back to the mail app...

In the "Mail" menu, select "preferences" and add a new account with the + at the bottom of the accounts list making sure to select "other mail account" as the account provider and click "continue"...

enter the name for the account, enter the gmail email address, and paste the password you copied from the yellow box as the password.

TADA!

I understand you want to add a Google account to the Mail app. To do that follow these instructions from the Mail User Guide: Add email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support. Select your macOS version from the dropdown menu at the top of that page. To find out the macOS version your Mac is using please read Find out which macOS your Mac is using - Apple Support.

If you continue to get the error then contact Google for assistance: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support.

As Google states it is their requirement, and their decision to impose it upon others.

If a product or service becomes too difficult or inconvenient to use don't use it. It seems Google wants to force you into using something else.

I don't understand what's so great about Google anyway. The product they sell is you. The emails you send are theirs. What are you getting out of that deal?

Then put and .. . . and vent to the E-mail Severs of the Users' Choice.

We hear similar complaints directed towards Apple for imposing things on Users in the iOS / macOS they do not like.

Don't like Google, Don't Apple.

Maybe some other platform would be a better fit.

Has the user tried Linux - Oh don't them either 😔

funny thing is with my Raspberry Pi Zero2 which is 15 pounds I can use all and have better performance than on this Mac with newer OS... I remember when internet was useful and usable, now thank you to giant techs here we go. I have also Issues with email from outlook 365... Thunderbird works great for gmail, you need to use an older version but works... it's crazy Google makes trouble for Apple and Apple can't do anything about it
