Mail auto-delete

Is there a function in Apple Mail to auto delete mail based on similar subject ?

I get spam all the time bypassing the spam filter, and they have usually similar subjects, and it goes on for months. Subjects like : 'Second Mortgage', or 'Solarpannels' or 'Paint your house'. Would be very powerfull to have a function like rightclick and 'Delete mail similar to this subject' with a distinction in 'for now', and 'always'. Does this exists?

Hi SunnySan,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you'd like to automatically delete mail on your Mac.

The macOS doesn't include a feature to automatically delete mail, but you can filter your junk mail as outlined here: Reduce junk mail in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

"Change junk mail filter settings

The default settings catch most of the junk mail you receive, but you can customize the filter.

  1. In the Mail app  on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Junk Mail.
  2. Specify what Mail should do when junk mail arrives.
    • If you want to verify what the filter identifies as junk mail, select “Mark as junk mail, but leave it in my Inbox.”
    • If you’re sure the filter accurately identifies junk mail, select “Move it to the Junk mailbox.”
  • To set up other actions, select “Perform custom actions,” then click Advanced.
    • Note: To make sure the filter’s database is used to identify junk mail, don’t change the default condition “Message is junk mail.”

3. Select options for exempting messages from being evaluated, such as messages received from people who use your full name.

4. To include in the filter any junk mail detection inherent in messages, select “Trust junk mail headers in messages.”

If you'd like to learn more about deleting email from your Mac, this resource will guide you through your options: Delete emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

"Permanently delete emails

In the Mail app  on your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Choose Mailbox > Erase Deleted Items, then choose an account.
  • In the Mail sidebar, Control-click a Trash mailbox, then choose Erase Deleted Items.

You can set the “Erase deleted messages” option in Mail settings to have Mail permanently erase deleted messages for you at a specified time. See Change Mailbox Behaviors settings."

Take care!
