It's hard to tell exactly what you mean. Does it look like this?
This color ring indicates that the watch face is being edited. If you click the crown and click it again, this will go back to the normal view.
Some watch faces can have color accents that may include a ring. Here is the Color face showing how to change the color using the Face Gallery on the iPhone.
