Microsoft 365: Migrating from Intel Mac to M2 Mac

Hi, I am about to buy an M2 Mac and will migrate my Intel Mac contents to it.

If I migrate the Microsoft 365 applications such as Word and Excel to the M2 Mac, will I have problems due to the new system?

Has anyone reading this done that or heard/read of other people having problems?

Is it better to uninstall the apps before migrating and then re-download them?

I have some macros that I would have to transfer which would be a hassle as I am not that confident with VBA.

FWIW, I never "migrate" apps. I always reinstall the apps on the new hardware. New hardware = new drivers etc. I only migrate data.

If you subscribe to Microsoft 365 and have been keeping up with updates there shouldn’t be a problem. I migrated from an Intel Mac to a M1 Mac Studio using Migration Assistant with no issues. My Microsoft 365 apps all transferred okay and were already Apple Silicon compatible.

Instead of deleting all my apps, how about migrating them, see if any don't work, and then remove those that don't, by using AppCleaner, which usually removes all associated files too?

That's good to hear.

Were your macros intact afterward?

My current Mac (MacBook Air 2014) cannot update beyond Big Sur, so my Microsoft 365 apps may be older too.

Would you advise deleting the app and then downloading again, in my case?
