Prompt for Standard User Password when Updating to Ventura

Just wonder anyone knows how to get around this "Software Update is trying to authenticate user" prompt.

I understand that Apple has introduced the "volume owner" thing that the first created user during setup is automatically the volume owner.

My company uses ABM and MDM to manage our Macbooks and new purchased are sent directly to end user's home. So inevitably, the end user account is always the first created. Then MDM policies applied, removing admin rights from the end user account and creating a local admin account.

Given the above, as an administrator, I am unable to run MacOS update either using remote commands via MDM or through a remote session using the local admin account as it always prompt for the end user password. I even used sudo to run update commands in terminal and it would also asking for the end user password.

Any ideas or thoughts is appreciated.

Is the macOS user account shown in the message (which you hid from view in the screenshot) an actual admin user account? Even if it was at one time, make sure to verify that this user is still showing as an admin user. There have been multiple reports on these forums where people's admin accounts have turned into a Standard user account.

Otherwise it would most likely be an MDM configuration issue as suggested by @P. Phillips.

The above only happens on Apple silicon Mac when I tried to update from Monterey to Ventura. And the user I hide from above screenshot is a "standard user" that have no admin rights. So why do I need the "standard user" password to run OS update instead of local admin account?

In contrast, the below screenshot happens when I update an Intel Mac from Monterey to Ventura. It is also login as a standard user account, that's why it asks for administrator password when I start OS update. I can simply enter the local admin account credentials created by MDM policies and can run update without problem.
