Car Play

Having a problem with Apple Car Play in my 2021 Honda CR-V


If I perform the following:

  1. Update Phone Name - Settings > General > About > Name to iPhone-MyName
  2. Set up Car Play in my vehicle and working as expected
  3. If I install an iOS update or I manually Reset Network Settings - Name changes to iPhone
  4. Car Play stops working and I have to go through Car Play setup again.


Is this expected?

I fail to understand why would change in Name would block access to a feature on the device except if it is the car audio issue. Please get this checked from a reputed car dealer.


If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car.
