How do I know it is safe to send my password here?

This is likely safe - but, I just get a bit wary when asked to enter my MacBook password through what appears to be a website.

The site is www.tinkercad.com

A friend sent me this link to view something:

https://www.tinkercad.com/login?next=%2Fthings%2F7RoAFGW3UxV-morse-id%2Feditel%3Fsharecode%3DFyMm1BLdLwZyZ0AwyKbx9U8ISyzkbrOBxCMJqjqRB_c

However, I needed to create a password for that site in order to see whatever it is my friend sent me. One of the options to login is to use my Apple ID. At some point I was asked for my MacBook password.

How do I really know this is safe? How do I know my password isn't going to Autodesk.com? I know it isn't - but, I want assurances here.

That's just a standard "Sign in with Apple" just like "sign in with Google" or any other third-party authentication system. The whole point of the general scheme is to not send any passwords to the third-party. Apple authenticates you to the third-party.

Even if this turns out to be legit, I would never reveal my Apple ID or password at any internet site other than Apple itself. Ditto regarding any of my Mac user IDs or passwords. (And the only situation I ever encountered where my Mac user ID was required was while installing macOS on one of my Macs.)

If it's legit, it is akin to Sign in with Google and Sign in with Facebook ... and I don't do any of those, either, for similar security & privacy reasons.

If there is an option to create a tinkercad/autodesk user ID and password I would opt for that. I advise a unique ID & password for every site.
