Apple Home Mini Pod arrived yesterday, not working. So far it just sits there with the glowing light on top. It doesn't show up in the blue tooth in system preferences.
Is this an expensive paper weight/door stop?

Bluetooth is used during setup, and perhaps for handoff, but HomePod uses the AirPlay 2 protocol over Wi-Fi for audio playback. Or in simpler terms, HomePod uses the Wi-Fi network that your iOS or iPadOS device is connected to. It isn't meant to be shown as a connectable Bluetooth device.

Your explanation is good but it appears that I shouldn't have bought this thing to use as a speaker for my Mac Pro.
