Hey, looking for final confirmation if it’s possible to setup HomePod minis as default speakers in Apple TV 4K. Apple support was not really sure about it lol, so looking for confirmation from someone who actually have Apple TV and using it with HP mini. Thanks!

Yes, HomePod mini(s) can act at default speakers for an Apple TV. As it says in the support article:

When the default speaker option was first available you could do it Apple TV 4 HD, but that is no longer possible. It does work with HomePod mini as well as the larger units. A downside of this option is that you can no longer play music from the speakers independently of the Apple TV. How it works now is as described in the article.

Hm, it only says that you can use it as a speaker, but nothing about setting it as default one. So the question can I set it up as a default and not have to change the sound output each time I’m turning on tv.
If you will Google it, there was in the past a lot of topics were people mentioned that as a default speaker you can set only HomePod, but not HomePod mini (it was working as a speaker, but you had to change it each time). Question if Apple change it now with a new software, or it’s still the case.
