First I THINK I found the root of the issue. I tried both options suggested in this thread. Changing DNS or doing the Video Reset under settings didn't work for me. What seems to be the issue is what is called "Double-NAT" in networking terms. My VZ FIOS is connected directly into a Ubiquity Router (you might have a Verizon or AT&T router or something else) and then plugged into the Ubiquity Router is my Eero 's WiFi that also act as a "secondary" router. https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207621056-Can-I-double-NAT-my-eero-with-my-current-router-
I removed the Ubiquity yesterday and connected to Eero directly to my Verizon FIOS to remove the "Double-NAT". I validated the issue by plugging the AppleTV directly behind the Ubiquity router (with a Gig switch). MLB worked ! Problem with that is you loose HomeKit and you won't be able to control the AppleTV via your iPhone AppleTV in Control Center. So after I vetted the fix I went to a single router and made Eero the router. Hope this helps !
Changing the DNS on all Apple devices fixed it for me
I’ve reached out to MLB.TV about this and they have received multiple complaints about this, but have offered no solutions. Not sure where the problem is, but there is definitely an issue somewhere. One thing, though, I was on a public Wi-Fi network and did not have the same issue as I do at home. Is there a network setting that could be causing this? I have Verizon Fios service.
This happens to me between each inning on all 3 of my Apple TV 4K devices. I have deleted and redownloaded, all devices updated. Still the issue persists. Absolutely ridiculous to do this 18 times to watch 1 game. Contacted apple and they suggest speaking to a senior advisor… WHAT are they going to do.. fix the app
It’s definitely not just Apple devices. It also does it on my Roku and Google tv.
Me too! It happens between every inning causing me to have to reload the game by reconnecting screen mirroring. It doesn’t happen when accessing the game through my paid MLBTV subscription but only through the free T-mobile provided MLBTV subscription. Very annoying. There doesn’t seem to be any fix for it during the screen mirroring process.
Same for me - altho i have encountered this issue at work as well (not sure who our provider is here). Agree w/Gravel-Cyclist that we should all make noise w/mbl.tv. they told me no one else was experiencing the issue a few weeks back during spring training and still haven't fixed it.
Not yet, but they sent me this useless email:
Dear Fan,
Thank you for contacting us.
To assist you further, please provide the following information
1. Your Apple TV OS (go to settings>system>software update)
2. Your MLB.TV app version (on the scores page scroll to the top of the screen and select "settings". It is in the lower right corner)
3. If possible, please provide a screenshot of any errors you are receiving.

I then replied to their email with the MLB App version that I am running and then received this useless email (essentially they are telling me to do something that can’t be done on AppleTV):

Thank you for contacting us.
Please try resetting your network on your Apple device:
Settings>general>reset>reset network settings

Anyone find a fix for this? I am getting so sick of this. Every single
commer I have to back out of the game, start a different stream, and try to re enter the game I’m watching hopefully timing the commercial break right. I’m about to ask for my money back.
I have hard wired appletv unit to my tv and only started having this same issue since moving to Florida from NJ. When we first moved here I was able to watch the commercials which I wasnt able to in NJ. Then it started kicking me off between innings like everyone else here. I will try the unplug everything advice and let you all know. Very frustrating in this era of high tech!
Same problem. I was forced into signing up for Apple TV to watch the Dodger Game and the transmission froze in/out of the commercials during the telecast. When the game finally resumed, because we initially opted to restart the game from the beginning, the telecast skipped from the 5th to the 9th inning. This was a very unsatisfactory experience. Not only did we have to pony up $9.99 to watch a Dodger game with announcers that were not knowledgeable about the team, but then we missed half the game because of Apple TV transmission. This cannot be blamed on the internet, our router, Spectrum etc. As noted by several others who had the same complaint, this is an AppleTV transmission problem. If AppleTV wants to be a player in Sports TV they need to do much better. I will be requesting either a refund or an extension of my (1) month subscription. Big disappointment. When Apple TV decides to hold Dodger fans hostage then at least deliver.

Are you referring to selecting the "Reset Video Settings" button? Thank you for your help.
Were you able to get this fixed? It happens to me as well.
I tried different settings in video output and it didn't resolve the problem on my Sony Smart TV. What setting did you use?
Yes, same thing for me. The game action itself is fine, but freezes immediately once the half inning is over and it tries to go to the commercial break. Very annoying.
