Bought a used iPhone 14 pro max, can seller report it lost / stolen for insurance claim ?

Hi guys ,

i bought a used iPhone 14 pro max activated in February (technically new). It accepts any SIM card and I have Put in my Apple ID and everything is working as it should. Find my iPhone etc all activated. Just a concern that is there a possibility that the seller ( who told me had this as an upgrade from network and didn’t wanted it and was happy with his old iPhone) can later claim a replacement for this phone declaring this as lost / stolen and the network from whom the phone was given blacklists my iPhone etc !

in the settings , it is giving me the option to buy Apple care etc if I want to ( just stating as is this some sign of a relief ? ).

look forward to expert opinions, thanks and I am in United Kingdom.

Those websites are not reliable but regardless it is impossible for us as users to know. The seller could well be honest or he could have sold you a device he was not supposed to sell and could report it stolen.

You have one good thing going for you, you were able to active it with your Apple ID. Short of contacting the seller again I would not worry about it at this point.

Is there a way I can check if it’s bound to a network or carrier etc and something I can ask the seller for to ensure that I am safe ?

Think about it for a minute... If the seller is honest you have nothing to worry about. If he is not he will not answer your questions now. You could ask him for you money back but I doubt he will respond.
