iWatch Cellular Activation Process MUST include information to TURN OFF iPhone VPN in settings otherwise setup WILL FAIL.

After trying to activate my iWatch Ultra on T-Mobile for 4 days spending at least 15 hours on the phone with T-Mobile and Apple support I was still not able to activate my watch cellular service. I Always got the error “Connection Failed the connection to the server was lost” despite resetting my watch and repairing 15 times.

I read on a forum for Spectrum Mobile that VPN must be turned off for the network to see the IP address of the device. I turned off the VPN and then Cellular Activation on the watch worked perfectly.

Please send this information to all Apple service Reps. You will save countless hours of frustration and wasted time by ensuring VPN is turned Off during the cellular activation process.

All service reps should know, and all regular contributors on here do know, that App Store VPN will mess up every device that Apple make, including set up, wifi connection, other App Store purchases... but I suspect the politics prevent official staff from saying so. They sell them after all.

The device is at more secrity risk with VPN installed because all your data passes through third party servers. I hope you know who owns them. Russians? Chinese?

I recommend you uninstall it, and remove the profile in Settings and leave it off. Same goes for so-called security or A/V apps.

You seem to not know you are not writing Apple here. You are only writing other users on this user to user only forum. Apple isn't here, so your request to make sure all reps are told, won't happen. And LD150 is correct, reps do know. Most veteran users here know. No iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad needs or really benefits in any way from using a VPN. In fact, using a VPN on one, can cause way more issues than they could possibly solve.

DUMP your VPN permanently. You don't need it.
