Use of a MacBook Pro inflight?

When using a MacBook Pro, how do you get to the stage where you pay the airline for inflight service? I could not access service on on my laptop during a recent flight, but I could do so with my phone.

When failing to connect to publicly available Wi-Fi service provided in Hotels and public transportation, sometimes the required login page fails to appear, and you can not enter your credentials.

if this occurs, type the numeric IP address into a browser address window:

1.1.1.1 and press return

This will either get intercepted and provide the login page, or show you the CloudFlare** splash page, in which case your connection is working.

**CloudFlare is not part of the solution, they just have the absolute easiest to remember numeric IP address.

_______

The reason this sometimes does not work automatically is that anything alphabetic you enter needs a Domain-Name-Server address lookup on the web. If you are prohibited from accessing the web because you have not yet entered your credentials, you may not be able to use DNS to look up any addresses. Therefore you can not generate a web page that can be intercepted to show you a login page instead.

1.1.1.1 bypasses the need to look up the Internet phone number of a web site, generates a direct web page request, and typically the service provider intercepts that request and provides its login page instead. I would recommend Apple numeric web site address instead, but it is hard to remember and they are always changing exactly which one is the main page.
