I need to find a shortcut to delete a text message conversation on my iMac.

I have a huge number of text messages I am going through to clean up my Mac. I need a shortcut to delete some of them because what I'm doing now takes 3 steps. Surely there's a shortcut that doesn't require me to select the conversation, go to "file", "delete conversation" then go over to opened message box and confirm "delete".
