Do you have the “Clean Energy Charging” option on your iPad as described in my previous post? If you do turn it off.
Agreed. My iPad Pro running current iPadOS does not have this ‘feature’ either and both my and my wife’s iPad Pro are draining the battery much faster since recently updating the software. Apple needs to admit and fix their issue asap. I’m losing my sense of humor over this…
After spending many years as a software integrator on the Microsoft platforms (corporate policy to avoid Apple), I have been enjoying my personal use of Apple products. Unfortunately the original quality of this product, especially in regard to software integrity, has resurrected some of my frustrations from those working days. Apple need to get back to basics here and sort out their QA of software releases.
I have 16.5.1 and experiencing the same thing. Especially on ipad pro. I found that option on my iPhone xr but not on ipad pro.
My iPad does not have this option.
Yes this is getting tiresome now and Apple are slow to respond. My latest issue with the iPad is when the touchscreen doesn't respond. The connected keyboard works to allow the security access but without the touch it's a dead duck! Power off by pressing Power / Home and after a restart the problem is resolved.
Not sure if this is an old issue prior to the last software upgrade - new to me anyway.
My days working working with crappy Microsoft are being relived with this Apple software quality.
Will anyone get real at Apple and bring back proper QA procedures?
I have 16.6.1 and now my battery suddenly drains from 100% to 10% within a couple of hours. iPad shows I can now update to 17. Does anyone know if that fixes the battery problem? I’m afraid it might make it even worse.
I did the update to 16.6.1 just last evening and I can confirm the iPad battery drain remains as a priority issue for Apple to get fixed. It’s no longer funny and they need to take this seriously because it’s become a PITA.
Can’t comment on iOS v17 as when I try to check for updates, I just get that my model is up to date (iPad Pro 12”)
BTW - can this get any worse:(
Thanks. My iPad also says it’s up to date, but then down below it asks if I want to upgrade to 17. Go figure.
On 16.6.1 on iPad Pro and battery drain is 42% in 2 hours. Also takes a very long time to recharge. Definitely an iOS related problem. Never had this before 16.3.
My iPhone XR is on 16.7 and has not had these problems.
That’s good to know as I see the v16.7 is now available for my iPad, which only changed in the last days. Previously the software update request reported my model was up to date. I’ll complete the update and see if this version does indeed fix the battery drain issue.
After the update to 16.7 on the iPad the battery drain continues with a run time of two hours resulting in a drop from 100% to 55%.
Not consistent though but during the above session the iPad was just streaming audio.
Will continue to monitor this but it doesn’t seem to be correct.
Just installed 17.0.2 and battery drain is even worse. Down almost 25% in 1.5 hours. Heading to Genius Bar in the next day or so. Apple.com says battery replacement is $119. Guess it will be worth it if it fixes the problem. My iPad is 7 years old.
Maybe wait a few days. I was told the problem happens at first and then goes away. That happened to me on the upgrade to 16.6.1. After a few days, it settled in, and the battery is now running fine. Of course, I don't yet know what will happen when I go up to 17.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll wait a few days.
