I am trying to force usb drives to show up in a MacBook Pro

Basically, I am trying to set up a PERMANENT connection to force usb drives to show up in macbook pro desktop. WOULD APPRECIATE HELP--internet only shows obvious links WHICH NEVER WORK!!!

If you use Go menu -> My Computer, and connect an external drive.


Then drag the icon for the external drive into your favorites section of the sidebar, the icon will remain there until you dismount the drive. When you reconnect the drive, the icon will return there. This is as long as


Finder menu -> Preferences -> Sidebar External Disks checked off.


What are you attempting to do that is not covered by this?


And please understand, we are just end users like yourself. There is no need to go about ranting about this. We are all here to help.
