Hide alerts turning on by itself

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about hide alerts.

This feature will not turn on itself, unless there is some issue with the display. Instead, it's likely something to do with the way you operate the device, and then inadvertently enable this.

For example, while reading your messages, you can swipe left, and enable it there: Use Messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If there is an issue with the device display, you will likely also see other things occurring, such as other taps, or apps opening, etc. If you see that, try the troubleshooting here: If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
