Apple Pencil 1st generation not charging with lightning adapter

I have two apple chargers, one that I use for my iPad and the other that I use for my pencil. Recently the pencil has stopped charging from the cable, but it will still charge from the iPad port. Both cables work, they can charge my iPad, so I thought maybe I just needed a new adapter. I bought a new one, and no luck. I tried every possible orientation of the adapter, so I know it’s not a problem of whether or not I plugged it in right, and I tried using it with both the cables I have. The pencil still refuses to charge from the adapter, it only charges from my iPad.

There are two versions of this adapter, now.

The newest version is a USB-C to Lightnng adapter.

The older one is a Lightning to Lightning adapter.

You may have purchased the wrong one for your connection method.

Does your iPad mini 5 use a Lightnng cable connection adapter block or a USB-C adapter block with a USB-C to lightning cable to charge your iPad?

You might need to purchase the small adapter version that is a Lighning to Lightning adapter version.

You may have purchased the wrong USB-C to Lightning version of this adapter, which will not work.

Maybe the small Pencil adapter is faulty.

You can purchase one of these older Lightning to Lightning from third parties online, like Amazon.

Apple no longer sells the Lightning to Lightning adapter version for the 1st gen Apple Pencil, however, you may find a third party seller, like from Amazon, that sells Apple's original Lightning to Lightning Apple Pencil adapter, otherwise, plenty of third party makers of this adapter.
