iCloud status confusion

I subscribed to Apple Music+ and enabled iTunes Match ten days ago. My library sync'd leaving most of music with a cloud status of 'Matched' or 'Uploaded', which is fine and what I expect. However I have hundreds of songs in my library with the status of 'Apple Music' which doesn't make sense because Apple Music should be tracks I've downloaded from Apple Music.


Also - is it true that if I have Apple Music enabled I don't need iTunes Match?

I think I have to accept that enabling Apple Music in the cloud has somehow messed up my library but it's not a disaster. Some old tracks have the wrong cloud status and some have lost their play count and ratings, but I'm okay with that - my artwork and playlists are all intact!


Thanks for your suggestion...my original tracks are still on my Mac but I'm happy to leave things as they are!
