I woke up today with a person not in my contacts telling me “Hurry! It’s IMessages birthday today!!! If you send this to 12 people you get 120 new emojis!!! (It works!!!)”

I was confused but then I saw my friends doing it
idk if I should do it or not, does it work!?

It's the modern day version of a chain mail letter.

Ask yourself. Just how could sending the message out to 12 people possibly add more emojis to a protected font?

It's the same nonsense as Bill Gates sending you money for sending an email to 20 other people. a) How would he even know you did that. b) Why would he give you even a penny for mass forwarding an email?

This is not how to get new emoji. Or rich. Or lucky. Or not doomed, or whatever claim.

Forwarding this copypasta risks making you somebody that many of the recipients of your forwarded message will mute, or block.

Block the sender.
