how to update mail. currently using High Sierra

The Mail app is built into the OS and cannot be updated independently of the the OS.

Make sure that you have installed the most current updates that are appropriate and available for your Mac.


If you tell us more specifically what trouble you are having we can help you best.


If your troubleshooting fails to provide a fix for the problem, you may need to reinstall the OS. Reinstalling is non destructive; it simply lays a fresh copy of the OS onto your startup drive, replacing any missing or damaged system files.
