Wrist swelling from Apple Watch 7

I just bought an Apple Watch 7 and immediately noticed that my wrist/arm/shoulder was hurting

then I noticed I had to keep increasing the band because my wrist appeared to get bigger/swell which freaked my out so I came here looking for answers and found that other people have this issue as well.

why was it causing so many issues for me? It was not the band it was the watch itself. I returned the item
