itunes changed names of tracks created in audacity

I have a 7 hour audio book track that I divided into 200 tracks. The tracks are numbered as part of the name. 1 notes of the state of VA, 2 notes on state of VA, 3 notes on state of VA etc.

I had the 200 tracks on my desktop in a folder. I dragged them into a playlist in itunes in mac mini and it took away the number that was part of the track name. Now all tracks have the same name, Notes on the state of VA. When I opened the window that had the meta data on a couple of the tracks, they were listed as track 1, track 2, track 3. Is there a way to get the number as part of the file name without editing the track name of 200 files or a way to drag them from desktop into itunes without having it take the number off? I listen to this book on my ipod shuffle and if I want to know what track I am on so I can return to it later, it just says Notes on the state of Va.

I do this often with lectures - dividing them up and listening to them on the ipod shuffle. If I could have an easier way to get the numbers as part of the track name it would be a be help.

Thanking you in advance for any tips.

Mac mini, macOS 10.14
