My apps keep closing in the background on my IPhone 14 Pro

I had an issue with my iPhone 14. When apps suddenly refreshed in the background. It could be even with simple apps if you want to multitask you will check your email or will answer a meeting and that will go back to app you started with it will refresh. It’s freaking me out. I thought it was some kind of a RAM memory bug with my phone. But it is really hard to explain as a warranty issue. So I decided to upgrade a phone to 14 pro hopping the problem will disappear. But it’s still exists and I don’t know what to do about it.

Maybe it’s somehow connected to my Apple ID.

Maybe someone is facing similar problem or just know how to help with that. I would really appreciate.

For the setting background refresh. It’s turned on and all apps that I am using are on.

I would still like an answer to my question, in both threads. Are users “killing” apps after exiting from them, or in the process of exiting from them. If they are that would explain what is happening.

And it has nothing to do with background app refresh. All apps can run in background to finish what they were doing when exited by the user going to the Home screen - UNLESS the user is in the habit of closing apps in the multitasking screen; doing that prevents the app from finishing its processing and saving its state. Apps can run in background to process notifications, also. None of this requires Background App Refresh to be enabled.

Background App Refresh allows apps to start spontaneously on their own, not to finish housekeeping when the user exits or when they receive notifications. In other words, not in response to an “event”. An app can respond to an event even if not enabled in Background App Refresh. As an example of where Background App Refresh might be used is if an app needs to optimize its database, or perhaps delete out-of-date content on a scheduled basis. And very few apps actually use Background App Refresh. Most just respond to notifications.
