Watch Series 8 will not charge

Hi All,

My new Series 8 suddenly wont charge. It sits on the charger (apple supplied) and stays at between 1% and 7% (The 7% was after overnight charge, but it drained to 6% when it took it off the mag charger.

I have a genius bar appointment in two days ... and I guess Apple will send it "for repair".

Two things:

I am pretty upset that a watch I purchased on 15 January 2023 will. not be replaced, rather it will be repaired.

I wonder if there's something I could be doing wrong (I don't think so, long time owner of Apple Watches). Is there a known glitch with these batteries?
