'you left the conversation'... only I didn't!

New iPhone 13. I'm getting a 'you left the conversation' message (which I did not!) on individual (not group) texts (TO CLIENTS)... Then it won't let me send another text to them (I can write it... but the 'send arrow' is grayed out). Further, I have no idea if they are sending me texts that I'm not getting. I tried turning off my phone... and all the usual hoop jumping. Ultimately, I deleted an entire text conversation with my client (restarted phone), and it finally worked. Then it happened AGAIN with someone else. Is it me?

There has to be a way to stop this from happening. My clients are my livelyhood.

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Hello DenaDe,

This is not expected behavior. It sounds like you're off to a good start with the steps you've taken up to this point. Troubleshooting the issue, to further isolate the behavior will be the best course of action. You may want to do the following, and jot down the results. Once you have more information you may want to contact Apple Support directly about this issue.

Try the following:

  • See if the issue happens on Wi-Fi, cellular data, or both. This will help isolate the issue to a network, if network related.
  • See if the issue is related to a specific carrier or type of device. For example, does it only happen when you're sending iMessages to other iPhones, does it only happen when sending a message to an Android device, etc...
  • Does the problem occur when you're in a specific location/address?
  • Do you have Screen Time enabled on your device? If so, review your settings to make sure there is nothing blocking your messages from sending. Also reach out your carrier to ensure there are no blocking features enabled from their end that would prevent your messages from sending.

Once you have more information you can contact Apple directly to work with them on resolving the problem. You can reach out to them by clicking here: Contact - Official Apple Support or over the phone by calling the number that is most local to your region: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support.

Best wishes!

Genieen16,

Thank you for your advise. I will sort it out as I am able. It is quite inconvenient, for sure.

I am very disappointed and reconsidering another Mac book...

(BTW, so far, all 3 of the issues were with other iPhones. One being my husband - which is very frustrating to not be able to text him)

One other strange thing to note: when I got to text someone I've texted before, it's showing two options:

The person I wish to text AND

The person I wish to text + my own phone number...

(Like it's a 'group text' between two people).

I think there's something to that - perhaps a setting or glitch?

Anyways, I appreciate your help.
