So, my recent files (in the opening window and in the file dropdown) aren't populating.
Then, it started ONLY to populate projects I use from my external hard drive. I use my external for archiving and rarely open anything under there. My primary internal SSD is my workhorse.

I would try to set and reset the preferences.
First by going to Logic Pro > Preferences > General > Recent Items and changing the settings back and forth. Reboot Logic.
If that doesn't help, Logic Pro > Preferences > Reset All Preferences except key commands but like expected you have to reassign your preferences mannually again, create a backup.

I tried clearing the "Open Recent" menu and changed the Project Handling Startup Action to "None". Then I quit, relaunched, opened an existing project and changed all my settings back. Still no joy. Even though the preference is set to "Open Most Recent Project", it still defaulted to not opening anything and asking me if I wanted to open a recent file. The "Open Recent" menu option lists no recent projects.
The "Choose a Project" window lists no recent projects even though I closed one 30 seconds ago.
It's not a calamity but it is definitely a nuisance.
