Camera app black screen and crashing after IOS 16.3.1 update

Hello,

I recently updated my iPhone SE second Generation, purchased new 11/2020, to IOS 16.3.1 and subsequently my camera app no longer works. when I open it, it only shows a black screen. I have tried switching cameras, resetting all of my phone settings and turning off and on my phone countless times. Apps with built in cameras, like Snapchat and Instagram are also not allowing me to use the camera. I have also experienced frequent app crashes and I have had my entire phone turn off unprompted and show the apple screen several times since I installed the update. Do you have any advice for potential solutions? It doesn't seem like a phone that is a little over 2 years old should be struggling this much with an update.

I am only using 1/3rd of my iPhone storage and it is otherwise in good condition.
