is there a way to run a shortcut or automator application automatically when the lid is opened?

You can use Automator to run tasks and actions on your Mac. Automator can also work with the Shortcuts app. Use the Automator User Guide to learn how to create your custom workflows.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but if you read my question carefully you will see I specifically want to run a shortcut or Automator app (which I have already written and use manually) when the lid is opened.
