Having big problems with my ISP at the moment, this "~ in a circle" sign appears at side of my email account optusnet.com.au. What does it mean? If I click it , it disappears, but that doesn't mean the effect goes away. Thanks

It indicates some connection problem, maybe the server was temporarily unavailable or under heavy load.
If it goes away, it is usually no big deal.
