why won't Netflix work on my imac

There is no official Netflix App for Macs. Netflix has not made one available, and does not allow the iPad one Apple silicon Macs.

If accessing Netflix though a web browser such as Safari, please explain what issue you are facing exactly.

You need to access and view Netflix offerings via your browser at their website.
