Apple Watch Ultra Not Charging with Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable (1m)

It was a defective charger. It worked for several months, then quit working. I bought a new charger and everything is fine now.

• Unplug the USB C portion of the cord from the charging brick, then plug it back in
• Make sure your Apple Watch is updated to the current WatchOS 9.3.1
• Restart your Apple Watch

One of those steps will likely solve your issue.

Restart the Watch. After that it may be less expensive to order a replacement charge puck to try than drive 4 hours

and a 20watt USB-C brick if you only have one.

Only then send it off for repair

Well we know your watch charges with an older charger, so it's not likely the watch. You likely have a defective fast charging cord or charging brick, is my best guess.

Although the cable may look like new, the wires within are very delicate. Or it could be the USB-C charger itself. Your best option may be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store near you and let them look at it:

Thanks. I've tried a different brick with no luck, as well as restarting and making sure it's on the latest OS. Everything is pointing to the cable. I'll probably just order a new cable.

You're not writing anyone from Apple here on this user to user only forum. Apple isn't here, just other users. Your watch and its accessories came with a one year warranty. If the charger died, take the watch and the charger to your closest Apple Store Genius Bar and if the charger is defective, Apple will honor its one year warranty.

Anything electronic can fail. Telling Apple to do better may have made you feel better, but accomplishes nothing.

So I just experienced this. My first gen AWU would not charge on its included charger. I was using my Anker power bank like I normally do, and it would not charge, I switched the power bank to trickle charge and it started to work, so I’m thinking and hoping it is software related.

i am running the latest AW software.

If you are in the US, perhaps you have a BestBuy store near you? They are an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Did you by chance Force Restart your watch?

Press and hold BOTH the digital crown and elongated power buttons at the SAME TIME. Keep holding them both until the screen goes dark and keep holding until the Apple Logo appears, then let go. Enter your passcode when prompted and see if normal charging resumes.

Do try the Forced Restart. And if you still need to go to a BestBuy store, make sure to take the charger and charging brick you use with you.

As of this morning, I'm having the same problem with my Ultra and included fast charger. I went through the normal troubleshooting steps with no luck. I then tried an old wireless charger from my Series 4, and that it working, albeit slowly.

I don't know when the OS was last upgraded, so I don't know if that's related. My fast charger never moves from the shelf where I charge everything else; it's never been dropped or otherwise abused.

I'd visit a Genius Bar, but the closest is about 4 hours away, so it won't be soon.

Good suggestion, thanks! There is a Best Buy about 1.5 hours away, so I'll try that when I get a chance. I'm kinda in a remote location, so finding big retail can be a challenge. Edit: (I did try a force restart with no success)

I too am having this very same issue with my apple ultra watch. It won't charge. It's weird because I have had this watch since the beginning of January and have never had any issues charging it until recently.

I have tried all of the above listed suggestions as well! Did you figure out what the issue was with your watch??

I have the same watch and my charging cable only lasted 2 months. I bought a new cable like you did but i think its sad the 800 dollar watch could not come with a reliable charging cable. It already sucks that Apple does not give an adapter to go with the cable because of "environmental reasons".
