Volume Buttons switch when iPad is rotated

Hi,

Ever since I bought my iPad the volume buttons switch whenever I rotate it and I havent yet found the setting to change that. I can find the option on older iPad but not on mine. Does anyone know where this option is for newer iPads?

Hello Creepchen,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help adjust your settings and resolve the issue with volume buttons on your iPad.

You can adjust the setting in Settings > Sounds. See here for the full details:

"Turn dynamic volume buttons on or off

On most iPad models with iPadOS 15.4 and later, you can allow the volume controls to change based on how you hold your iPad. With iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation), and iPad (10th generation), the dynamic volume buttons are always on.

To turn dynamic volume buttons on or off:

  1. Make sure that your iPad has iPadOS 15.4 or later.
  2. Go to Settings > Sounds.
  3. Turn on Fixed Position Volume Controls if you want the volume buttons to always have the same behavior. Turn it off if you want the volume buttons to change dynamically depending on the orientation of your iPad."

Explained even more on this Apple Support page: Use the Home, side, and other buttons on your iPad - Apple Support

We hope this helps to get the buttons set for how you prefer.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

Cheers!
