Safe to buy second hand mac mini?

So I want to buy the new mac mini, but since it's not available in my country I will have to pay someone traveling from the US to my country to buy it for me.

She paid it with the Apple Card for 66/mo for 12 months, what happens if she decides to stop paying after month two? Will my device get blocked or that only happens on iPhone contracts?

The site is pretty trusthworthy I bought my macbook there in the past, and she has plenty of 5 stars reviews, but I want to be sure.

Also, how can I use the warranty in case something happens to the device since she's the one who bought it? They only check the serial number and that's it?

I asked for the bill just in case, and she said they don't send her a printed bill so she just forwarded me the "thank you for your order" email with the details.

Beware of purchasing any used Mac from a source with unknown dependability.

Having said that, it sounds like this will be the purchase of a brand new Mac mini, so some potential problems with taking ownership and setting up the Mac would be eliminated.

Regarding the question of stopping payments... no, Apple will not come and repossess your Mac, but whomever's card was charged may face a hit to their creditworthiness.

Using the warranty may require that you have a valid proof of purchase, a valid receipt that details the Mac s/n and the date of purchase. This person should at least send you a copy of that with your new Mac mini.

FYI: Apple - One Year Limited Warranty - Worldwide

Edit – Reading your post again it seems this may in fact be a used Mac mini that you are buying? If that is the case, then my first reaction definitely stands. You will need to ensure that the previous owner followed this guidance prior to handing the computer over: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support

Their failure to do the above is certain to cause problems with you setting up the machine.

Thank you brother, yes it's a brand new M2 mac mini my apple ID will be the first one logging in.

What can I ask her for valid proof of purchase? Like I said it doesn't come with printed invoices or anything, just the email she forwarded to me. It has the order number, the basic specs of the machine and my name on the shipping address. Hers on the billing address. Where can i get a receipt with the s/n?

Since the M2 mini is not available in your country, I would question if you could get software/security updates for a Mac purchased in the U.S. or even if an Apple warranty is valid in a country where Apple does not sell the device.

Your country may impose an import duty on the Mac that you are responsible for before they will release it from customs. And if your country is one that U.S. export regulations has banned, the Mac may not make it out of the U.S.

I’ve bought a MacBook on the same platform in the past. I get updates and no issues with customs. Also there’s no apple stores but there’s regular technology stores which are authorized by apple to handle warranties, not sure how it works but I bought an iPad Air 4 in the US, it had an issue on the screen so they gave me a new one in that store. They’re also authorized to fix them I think.
