Emoji button won't work

I had OS 13.2.1 reinstalled after a hack and lots seems different that what it replaced in the same version.

In Mail the Emoji symbol is shown upper right and opens a window but when I select the symbol to insert in the text it does not insert it. I have to drag and drop it.

Previously it was a simple click to insert the symbol.

I have done all that I can find here.

Emoji can't be inserted on a MacBook Air M2 - OS Monterey Hello, This is very strange since I can display the emoji screen but they can't be inserted within my writings (mail, word, note, ...). I am working on a brand new MacBook Air M2 with the latest version OS Monterey 12.5.1 I have erased and reinstalled entirely OS Monterey but it didn't fix the issue. What is going on? I am able to display the emoji window by clicking on the keyboard short cut, but when I chose one emoji and click on it, the window disappears and the emoji is NOT inserted on the screen. What works? I just made it work by clicking on the top right icon on the emoji window to bring up the "Character viewer" instead (see print screen). I can now double click on an emoji and insert it in my text. By switching back from the characters viewer to the emoji window it now work as well. But if I close the window and bring the emoji screen up again, I can't insert anymore any emoji.🧐🤔 It makes the process a little more long and painful especially when you're using a lot of emoji on a daily basis... Any idea how to fix this?

Recent emojis not working after clearing frequently used characters After updating my Macbook Pro to Sequoia 15.3.1, i noticed my recent emoji section wasn't updating. It was stuck on the last emojis i was using before the update. So i decided to clear frequently used characters in the emoji and symbols panel. But now it's even worse. The recent emoji section is completely gone and it's not storing any of my frequently used emojis, no matter how much i use an emoji. And when i use a hand emoji of a certain skin color for example, it's not even retaining my preference automatically like in previous MacOS versions. Never happened before

The newest emojis cannot be shown on Big Sur. The v14.0 & v15.0 emojis cannot be shown properly on Big Sur. And Apple doesn't allow me to update to a newer system. But I find out the missing emojis can be shown in many other desktop apps. So can I fix the emojis for system?

It takes a double click to insert the emoji.
