Remove your SIM card from the SIM card tray and then put the SIM card back. ... Make sure that the SIM tray closes completely and isn't loose. If you use a SIM tray from a different model iPhone, iPad, or from another phone manufacturer, it might not fit properly.

To be able to use any SIM across the globe you must have "No SIM Restriction" against Network Provider Lock. Please refer to the pic below.

That’s because the phone is carrier locked to a cellular provider other than the one you are trying to use. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can unlock it for use on other carriers. The article I linked to explains the process of unlocking the device, but the carrier it’s locked to MUST do the work on the back end to unlock it. If they refuse, it can’t be unlocked. There is nothing you or Apple can do about it. The carrier “owns” the lock. Apple does not have the legal right to unlock the device. Only the carrier it’s locked to does.
