Power Chime When Not Plugged In

Hello!

I have a MB Air M2 (2022), and I keep hearing the power chime (the chime that an Apple device makes when plugged into AC Power) at random intervals, even when the device isn't plugged in. I'm worried there is some sort of hardware issue. Has anyone else had experience with this?

Thanks!

I have the same mac as you but haven't heard the chime at random intervals, only when first plugged in. If your concerned about hardware issues I'd make an appointment at either an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have it checked out.

In the meantime you could power down the Mac and restart it. Doing so sometimes will clear any software bugs that might develop.

Hi Pogster,

Thank you for the advice. I'm hoping to find an answer on here before schlepping to the Apple Store. I've tried restarting it several times with no luck. It's sort of bizarre that it keeps chiming even when it's not plugged in, and it's an issue that's been ongoing for a couple of months (even though I've only owned this machine since December). Hopefully I'll find an answer.

Thanks!
