2023 MacBook Pro / Ventura / FCPX won't recognise Canon MXF files - help!

I have just set up my new MBPro and installed FCPX. I went to import files from my Canon C70 which were CLog2, and when they appeared in FCPX they were black. The audio is present. When I checked with Elmedia Player the files are fine. When I checked back in the camera, the files are fine.

It seems the latest FCPX and this MacBook can't read MXF files straight off a high speed memory card.

PLEASE HELP.

Based on the following article, Cameras supported by Final Cut Pro, it looks like Final Cut Pro supports a Canon EOS C70 using formats H.264 / H.265 / XF-AVC. Are you able to test in one of those formats, if you haven’t already?
